Southwest Airlines Frequent Flyer Newsletter - Excerpts

Now, Talk is Even Cheaper

There are lots of good reasons to use AirOne to make air-to-ground calls. And this summer, there's one more. During the months of July and August, AirOne is offering a special rate of just $1.99 to connect and 99 cents a minute for domestic calls. So go ahead, call and move those dinner plans up an hour. Or call and have someone waiting for you at the airport. Or call just for the heck of it. Hey, if nothing else it'll give you a cheap way to amuse yourself after you're finished with your peanuts.

Bring Along More Than Just Your Luggage

If you spend almost as much time in the air as you do on the ground, you could earn a companion pass that lets a person of your choice fly free for an entire year when traveling with you on Southwest. How? Just fly with us at least 50 roundtrips within 12 consecutive months. Companion passes can even be used with Awards Tickets and Friends Fly Free. Because if you spend that much time away from home, we think you deserve the company.

Let Us Help You Get Your Meeting Off The Ground

If you're planning a meeting, convention or special event with fifty or more people, we might just be able to help you get it off to a flying start. First of all, we'll assign a convenient group ID code for your group to use when making reservations. Not only it will it make their reservations simple, it will guarantee them a discount off our already-low fares. Plus, as a bonus to you, Southwest Airlines will give you free tickets based on the number of people who fly Southwest to the meeting. For more information, call 1-800-433-5368.

Sitting on Santa's Lap? Been Done.

When the law firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist were deciding what to put on their post-holiday card, they wanted something that was not only fun, personal and reflective of their daily lives, but something that was also symbolic of their goals. Their choice? A picture of them with the Company Plane. As Dr. Ann N. James explained in her letter requesting use of the plane for the shot, "Your leadership has clearly made a difference in the way Southwest personnel view their jobs, a difference I would like to emulate for our attorneys." As you can see, we were utterly unable to resist that kind of flattery.

Messy Workspace Photo Contest

Could a small animal hide in your office for several days without being noticed? Do coworkers make you close your door when clients are coming? Be honest. It's okay. Because according to Ann McGee-Cooper in her book, Time Management for Unmanageable People, a messy workspace actually does work for some people.

If you feel you're just that type of person, get a friend to take a photo of you in your workspace in its usual state. Don't change a thing; we want to see how it normally looks. Then, in 200 words or less tell us why your untidiness works for you and mail it, along with your photo, to:
Messy Workspace Contest
P.O. Box 36611
Dallas, TX 75235

Winners will receive two roundtrip tickets good for any Soutwest Airlines destination, not to mention the respect and admiration* of their co-workers.

*Respect and admiration not available in some areas.

One More Winner And We Could Have Started A Team

Congratulations to the eight lucky Rapid Rewards members and their guests who won a dinner with Nolan Ryan in our latest contest, and a hearty thank you to everyone who participated. And although we haven't finalized the menu yet, we promise it won't be popcorn and hotdogs.
