RADIO SCRIPTS for DISCOVERY COVE

These two 60-second radio scripts were written for Florida's Discovery Cove, a high-end, upscale water park in Florida that allows you to relax, swim, snorkel, and even play with the dolphins!

ANNOUNCER:

Underwater, you can’t hear traffic. You can’t hear the phone ringing. You can’t hear sirens. You can only hear an occasional splash. Maybe your own heart beating. This is what makes underwater the ideal place to be.

Underwater you are free, weightless. Immune to the boundaries of gravity. And immune to the world outside.

You can’t balance your checkbook there. You can’t shop for groceries. You can’t stop off at the dry cleaners or return a library book. Underwater is an ideal place to be. And Discovery Cove is an ideal place to be underwater.

Because at Discovery Cove, you don’t just go underwater to escape from the world. You escape to another world. A world where you can frolic with a dolphin. See a colorful school of tropical fish. Or immerse yourself in the world of a manta ray.

And eventually, when you’re ready to come out of the water, you’ll be faced with nothing more strenuous than sandy beaches, thatch-roof huts, or a 300-bird aviary just beyond the waterfall.

ANNOUNCER:

You do not need to impress a dolphin. He does not care what kind of car you drive. He is oblivious to your bad habits. He doesn’t care if your house is a mess. Or if you’re having a bad hair day.

This is what makes the dolphin an ideal friend.

Dolphins are smarter than we are. And better swimmers. But a dolphin will never let on that he excels in those areas.

A dolphin will look you in the eye. He won’t tell you about his internet stocks. He won’t ask to borrow your car. And you won’t have to listen to him complain about having a bad day at work.

He might, however, give you a ride on his dorsal fin.

Come swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove. And see if it doesn’t leave you a little awestruck.

While you’re there, take some time to discover a brilliant coral reef with thousands of tropical fish. Relax under a thatched-roof hut on a sandy white beach. Or visit the 300-bird aviary just beyond the waterfall.

The dolphins won’t mind if you don’t spend your whole day with them. That’s just how dolphins are.
